The Sindh government has decided to establish Sindh Ehtesab Commission to deal with the complaints and cases of corruption. For the purpose, necessary enactment will be made in Sindh Assembly.
The decision was taken in a high-level meeting held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the CM House on Saturday. The meeting was attended by Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Shah, Chief Secretary Siddique Memon, Advocate General Fatah Malik, Principal Secretary to CM Alamuddin Bullo, Senior Member Board of Revenue Mohammad Waseem, Home Secretary Mukhtiar Soomro and the law secretary.
The chief minister said that Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) was a good and effective organisation and it took taken drastic actions to nab corrupt elements. “But, I want to enhance their scope and capacity to purge the provincial government of corrupt elements. Therefore, there is a dire need to establish a provincial Ehtesab Commission,” he said.
The chief minister constituted a committee comprising secretary law, advocate general, home secretary and other concerned officers to prepare a draft of the bill for the SEC. “After approval, the bill will be tabled in Sindh assembly,” he said.
The Ehtesab Commission would have an independent board with a chairman. “It would be a strong, efficient and purely a professional organisation. Only clean and competent officers would be inducted there,” he said.
It may be noted that a similar Ehtesab Commission has already been established in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. After KPK, Sindh would be the second province which would have Ehtesab Commission.
