Three persons including Gul Badshah, a prominent member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), were arrested on Thursday on charges of assisting Afghan refugees to obtain fake identity cards in Peshawar.
The complaint against Gul Badshah was registered by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
The PTI district leader had managed to get pre-arrest bail in the case but he was arrested and sent to jail soon after a local court cancelled the bail.
The accused is close aide of former provincial minister Shaukat Yousafzai and other ministers in the party. He had contested by-election on PTI’s ticket against ANP leader Ghulam Ahmed Bilour in NA-1 constituency of Peshawar and was defeated.
The NA-1 seat was vacated by PTI chairman Imran Khan.
