Free school bags for students in Punjab soon

Punjab Education and Sports Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said on Thursday the Punjab Education Department has decided to distribute school bags to girl and boy students free of cost after provision of free text books.

These bags would be distributed to about ten million students by the Punjab Text Book Board, the minister said, adding stationery boxes and note books would also be provided along with text books in these bags.

Mashhood said this revolutionary programme of the Punjab Education Department reflected the educational vision of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and would result in reducing financial burden on parents as well as promoting interest of study among students.

The minister said a committee had been set up for implementing this project and it was hoped that the Education Department Punjab would start providing bags to students at the beginning of the next academic year.
