Silk road, one belt, one road, one mission: Pervaiz Rashid

Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid suggested on Tuesday that the concept of one-belt-one-road being implemented by China should include the phrase ‘one mission’ of bringing people together as culture is about people.

Speaking at the Ministerial level meeting of the 2nd Silk Road International Culture Forum, the minister expressed hope that the Silk Road would bring the people along it closer through intermingling of cultures.

“This road is not only for vehicles, commodities and goods but mainly to promote exchange of ideas and cultural understanding to bring socio-economic well being of all the regions along the historical Silk Route”, the minister added.

He assured the forum that the government would fully cooperate and support any effort or initiative taken by the forum to enhance people to people contacts through various institutional mechanisms.

The minister said that people along the Silk Road desire socio-economic cooperation and expressed belief that the respective governments and related organizations would synergize their efforts to achieve this goal.

The conference was attended by the delegations of SCO member states, observer states and dialogue partners along with heads of socio cultural organizations, scholars, think tanks and media representatives among others.
