Police conduct raid to arrest two close relatives of PM: TV

Police have conducted a raid to arrest two close relatives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, a private news channel reported on Tuesday.

According to Geo News, the raid was carried out to arrest Habib Ilyas, son of the PM’s first cousin, and Waqas Ilyas, a close relative of the PM, after a court issued arrest warrants for the two.

According to details, Deputy Commissioner of Inland Revenue Umer Riaz led the raid at Abdullah and Hasib Waqas Sugar Mills in Model Town on Monday evening but both the individuals were not present in the office.

Taxes of millions of rupees are outstanding against Abdullah and Hasib Waqas Sugar Mills.

Two cases had been lodged against the directors of these sugar mills on March 17. These cases suggest that both the men have a number of outstanding taxes which add up to Rs 267 million.

Central Special Judge Customs has ordered arrest and presentation of 5 persons before him by September 28.
