At least six suspected terrorists were killed in a joint operation conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and police in Sheikhupura late on Monday night.
According to CTD sources, CTD and Manawala police received information about presence of terrorists in Lagar village. The suspects were reportedly planning to carry out terrorist activities in Sheikhupura and Nankana districts.
As law enforcement agency and police conducted a raid in the area, the militants opened fire and injured a police official. Police and CTD returned fire and as a result six terrorists were killed while two of their accomplices managed to escape.
A large quantity of arms and explosives was recovered from the possession of the dead terrorists. The dead bodies of the militants were shifted to Sheikhupura hospital morgue.
Meanwhile in Balochistan, at least eight suspected terrorists linked to a banned outfit were apprehended while two terrorists were killed in a separate search operation by Balochistan Frontier Corps and intelligence agencies in Gwadar and Mashkay on Tuesday.
According to a FC spokesperson, security officers conducted a search operation in Gwadar and apprehended eight wanted suspects of an outlawed organisation.
The detainees were involved in heinous crimes, including the attack on Jiwani Airport.
Separately, two terrorists were killed in a raid in Mashkay area of Quetta. They were involved in attacks on members of the security forces and police.
