Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that during the first week of September, 172 patients were affected by dengue virus in Karachi while one each in Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad and Laraka.
However, no patient of dengue virus is reported dead. The minister informed this while presiding over a meeting in his office on Tuesday. He said this year, 1,382 dengue patients had been reported all over Sindh yet, while 1,341 were reported in Karachi only and 41 dengue patients belong to the rest of Sindh.
Dahar said: “In four government hospitals, isolation wards had been established for dengue virus patients and awareness drive against dengue virus is going on all over Sindh, including Karachi.” He was sure that due to better measures taken by the health department, the number of patients of dengue virus was decreasing.
