Head of Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (Samiul Haq group JUI-S) and Patron-in-Chief of Madrassa Haqqania Akora Khattak, Maulana Samiul Haq has termed the misconceptions about polio drops as baseless.

He said that such misconceptions were deliberately created and added that Ulema all over the world have carried out various researches into the matter, which show that there is nothing in polio drops that could prove injurious to human health.

He, along with Provincial Minister for Health Shahram Tarakai, was talking to media persons at Madrassa Haqqania Akora Khattak, at the launch of a three-day anti polio drive in the province. Representatives of WHO and UNICEF were also present on the occasion. He urged upon the parents to get their children immunised against polio, as it was their foremost duty to take the best possible care of the health of their children. “All segments of the society, including the Ulemas should make sincere and coordinated efforts in eradicating polio from our society,” he further stressed.

Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister for Health Shahram Khan said that the provincial government was determined to eradicate the poliovirus from the province and with the support and cooperation of the Ulema, this menace will surely be eradicated by next year.

He termed the eradication of polio as a national duty of all segments of society and urged other Ulema and opinion leaders to come forward and guide people in the matter.
