A three-day anti-polio campaign began in the country on Monday during which 18 million children up to the age of five years will be administered anti-polio drops.
A dose of Vitamin A will also be given to the children six months of age. In Punjab, 39,000 teams have been formed for the purpose. These teams will visit door to door besides public places including all airports, railway stations and bus stands to administer the drops.
In Sindh, over six million children will be administered anti-polio drops in 23 districts, except Karachi.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the anti-polio campaign will be launched in 23 districts. Sixteen thousand and seven hundred teams have been constituted to administer anti-polio drops to more than five million children.
Children of the Afghan refugees will also be administered anti-polio drops.
In Balochistan, 2.4 million children will be administered anti-polio drops. Similarly, in Gilgit-Baltistan, over 200,000 children will be given anti-polio drop. One thousand and two hundred teams have been set up for the drive.
Meanwhile, strict measures have been taken for security of the polio vaccination teams across the country.
