PARC and PCRWR hae inked MoU to cultivate olive at large scale in Cholistan and Balochistan. PARC will provide technical assistance and plants to PCRWR and the department will place solar panels and grow olive and other plants by drip irrigation system.
At the occasion Chairman PARC, Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad said that PCRWR collaboration in this regard will be highly appreciated and become custodian of development in this particular sector. Through this joint venture progress neglected lands can be used for olive and other fruit plants cultivation and new ways of earning will be opened in these areas.
Chairman PCRWR said that we have demonstration forms in Cholistan and Balochistan and we will make them demonstration centres for farmers with the help of PARC and new technology will be provide to serve the plan.
Dr. Nasir Mehmood Cheema, National Project Director, Olive said at the occasion that olive is one of the marginal land commodity and the land in Cholistan and Balochistan which is not suitable for other crops will be used for olive and other fruit plants cultivation. Another positive factor is that lot of foreign exchange will be saved and the livelihood of our farmer will become sound. At the end of the function, Chairmen of both departments signed the MoU.
