Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President Punjab PPP, while addressing a press conference here today said that PPP was happy over the abandoning of the policy of reconciliation observing now workers feel more elevated to work for the Party.

He added that the policy of reconciliation would continue with the opposition parties on issues of immense public interest. The PPP has reached a clear understanding with the seven opposition parties for seat adjustment during the local bodies’ elections.

He noted that he was issuing instructions to the district presidents of the Party to take lead in contacting the opposition parties to evolve a strategy with consensus against the government candidates.

He said that the PPP would decide to contest or otherwise the forthcoming by-elections in its meeting of Core Committee scheduled to be held on 19 and 20 of this month. He expressed hope that the decision will be to contest the elections no matter what, he added.

He said that NAB was hundred per cent under the influence of the government because pick and chose was not the practice in the political government which was the case now. And that NAB should initiate action like arrests against the accused only after preparing the case with irrefutable evidence instead of arresting the people mere on the basis of suspicion. Such practice is undertaken in civilized societies, he observed.

He said that the PPP fully supported Zarb-i- Azab and salutes the officers and jawans who were sacrificing their lives in the war against terrorism and extremism. PPP highly appreciate the leadership of Army Chief under whose command the war against the scourge is being fought successfully, he maintained.
