New CJP says he is committed to upholding meritocracy

Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali while addressing officers of Supreme Court on Saturday said that each member of the staff was equally important for the better performance of court therefore, they should discharge their duties with commitment, dedication, devotion and honesty.

The CJP said he was committed to uphold meritocracy and discourage nepotism and favouritism. He urged the officers not to obey the illegal orders at any cost and work according to the principles of merit.

He further said that the credibility and the dignity of the institution lied in efficient performance of the staff. Therefore, he hoped that staff would work in a better way. He also informed the officers that special steps would be taken to reward the efficient and diligent members of the staff.

Earlier Registrar Supreme Court of Pakistan Tahir Shahbaz welcomed the chief justice of Pakistan on his own behalf as well as on behalf of the officers of Supreme Court. The officers also expressed their gratitude to the Chief Justice of Pakistan and assured him to work beyond the normal call of duty to advance the cause of justice.
