Police on Saturday foiled a major terror bid by seizing at least 80 kilogram (Kg) explosives, huge cache of weapons and detonators and arrested as many as six suspected terrorists in Tarnol area.
Tarnol Police Station personnel raided a house in the locality at around 8 am on a tip off from intelligence agencies. The security forces including Rangers and Elite Force personnel seized at least 80 Kg explosives, chemicals, six detonators, a 1,700 meter long wire, thousands of bullets and huge cache of weapons.
As many as six militants were apprehended from the place. They were shifted to undisclosed location for interrogation.
The weapons include eight sub-machine guns (SMG), a Triple Two, two M16s, a 7mm, three repeaters, at least 19 30-bore pistols, three 9mms, seven 12-bore rifles, five pump-action guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
A stolen car and two motorcycles have also been recovered in the raid. Following the raid, a search operation was conducted in Tarnol in which at least 59 suspected criminals were arrested. A huge amount of narcotics has also been seized in the operation.
Following the recovering of huge weapons and explosives, police and Rangers carried out a joint search operation in the adjourning area of Tarnool and detained 60 suspects.
