The Sindh High Court (SHC) has summoned the deputy secretary forest and environment and wildlife to explain the position regarding regularization and salary payment issue of 11 employees of the department.
As many as 11 employees of the Sindh’s forest, environment and wildlife including Suhail Kamal, Yasir Iqbal and Sidra Naeem took their department to the court to get salaries and job regularization.
The petitioners stated that they were appointed on contracted basis in 2012 and were working there since then. Meanwhile, in March 2013, the Sindh Assembly passed Regularization of Ad-hoc & Contract Employees Act, 2013, according to which all the ad-hoc and contract employees should be regularised.
They were not regularised by the department despite the bill passed by the provincial assembly. Moreover, their salaries were stopped for one year. The petitioners prayed to the court to direct the respondents to follow the passed bill and regularise contract employees. They requested the court to declare the stoppage of salary as illegal.
In the last hearing, Sindh Environmental Agency Director General Irfan Ahmed Abbasi appeared before the court but the AAG submitted that the deputy secretary forest environmental & wild life was the concerned person to give reply on this issue. The SHC bench headed by Justice Muneeb Akhtar summoned the concerned officer on 6th October to explain the position.
