Suspect allegedly dies in police custody

An accused has died during an investigation by the Central Investigation Agency (CIA) police in Islamabad.

According to a source, the accused, identified as Muhammad Irfan, was arrested by Sub-Inspectors Amir Sajjad and Muhammad Haseeb on robbery charges from I-9 Centre.

According to the source, the accused was badly tortured by both the police officers on Thursday night, which caused his death.

Police Superintend Tariq Kayani has ordered registering a case against the alleged police officers, the source said.

The deceased was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for medico-legal formalities before handing him over to his family for burial.
