The Senate Standing Committee on Defence has passed a resolution strongly denouncing ceasefire violations by India on Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary.
Its meeting was held at the parliament house in Islamabad with Syed Mushahid Hussain Sayed in the chair.
The resolution said Indian aggression is part of an organised policy to trigger instability in Pakistan. There is no justification for such hostility. It said that the statements of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are provocative.
The committee urged the international community to take notice of Indian aggression.
The resolution also called upon India to respect UN resolutions on Kashmir dispute.
Earlier, Secretary Defense Alam Khattak apprised the committee about the Indian ceasefire violations. He said India has so far committed 221 ceasefire violations at the LoC and Working Boundary during the current year.
The defence secretary said Indian troops deliberately target the civilian population of Pakistan while Pakistani troops give befitting response to Indian fire by targeting only their checkposts. He said Pakistani troops never target the civilian population.
Alam Khattak said India wants to engage Pakistan in a war. He said Pakistan is fully prepared to respond to any Indian aggression.
The committee was also informed that India wants to sabotage Pak-Afghan relations.
In his remarks, Mushahid Hussain Sayed said Modi is pursuing a confused policy vis-e-vis Pakistan.
