Seminary students’ documents checked

The Lahore Police checked documents of 1,094 students of three seminaries during search operations in last four days.

Police sources said that during the search and sweep operation of seminaries, police checked documents of 1,094 students and warned the administration not to allow entry of any student or stay in their madrassah who do not possess proper identification documents.

Police also issued advisory letter to the administration of seminaries regarding security.

Police arrested 107 proclaimed offenders and court absconders from different areas.

Police arrested 47 suspects during search operation in various hotels, inns, guest houses, lorry addas and railway station.

After investigation, the police released 35 people while took action against 12 persons who did not possess complete documents.

Police registered cases against two persons on violation of Foreigner Act and sent them to jail. While police registered 41 cases against 52 loudspeaker violators in all divisions of the city during on-going activities under the National Action Plan (NAP).

During a crackdown against drug peddlers, police arrested 51 peddlers and recovered 27 Kg charas, 25 Kg ‘bhang’, 1,225 grams heroin and 281 bottles of liquor.

During search and sweep operation, police registered cases and arrested 31 accused involved in possessing illegal weapons and recovered 17 rifles/guns, 30 pistols and 900 bullets from their possession.

Police also conducted different raids on dens and arrested 24 gamblers besides recovering stake money and other items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, the sources added.
