Rangers conduct search operation in Nine Zero vicinity

Rangers on early Friday morning conducted search operation in vicinity of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) headquarters Nine Zero but no arrests were reported.

The paramilitary force carried out a search operation at Nine Zero precincts but no arrests were made. The personnel conducted strict checking at several points.

Meanwhile, police arrested at least 18 suspected criminals and eight miscreants in an operation in Pehlwan Goth. The personnel seized stolen motorcycles, narcotics and weapons. The Gulshan’s superintendent of police (SP) said that a notorious drug dealer, Gulzar, was also among the arrested criminals.

An extortionist was apprehended by police in injured condition in an operation in Madina Colony. West’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ghulam Asghar said the extortionist belonged to Lyari gang-war group. Security forces seized a motorcycle, extortion money and weapon from the culprits’ possession.

Separately, police in Clifton Khayaban Tauheed apprehended three felons involved in different street crime cases. Earlier, at least four terrorists were killed in a shootout with Rangers after search operation at Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area while one Rangers official was wounded.

According to Rangers spokesperson, a house near Sohrab Goth was raided on a tip off indicating the presence of terrorists who killed lawyer Husnain Bukhari.

The terrorists opened fire using the modern weapons right after seeing the Rangers personnel. As many as four terrorists were taken down in the shootout whereas one Rangers official was wounded. The spokesperson said that Bukhari was murdered on March 4 and that the Rangers had been on the campaign to arrest the accused involved in the target killing.
