I’ve been an honest politician for 26 years, says Rana Mashhood

Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed has said that he has been in politics for the last 26 years, and he has never been accused of corruption during this time.

Out of the 26 years he remained a member of the provincial assembly for 13 years and held public offices as Punjab assembly deputy speaker, and provincial minister for more than seven years.

During this long span of time, not a single allegation of corruption had been levelled against him with regards to development schemes in his constituency or any provincial department, he added.

Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said that some elements are trying to malign him and are busy in his character assassination on the basis of some video clips which had been investigated by a joint investigation team of FIA and in the light of its report the High Court and the Supreme Court had declared him innocent. He said that the nature of the case was not political and the allegations levelled by the complainant against him were about getting money for mediation between two groups of lawyers. This charge later proved to be wrong and baseless, he said.

Rana Mashhood further stated that NAB is a responsible and constitutional institution and its higher authorities should investigate and probe any matter thoroughly before making any comment. They must be careful that whatever they say should not go against the prestige and dignity of their institution. The minister further said that he is consulting his legal team on the issue of alleged video clip.
