Quaid-e-Azam solar power project being subjected to controversy, says Shehbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that the Quaid-e-Azam solar power project is being subjected to controversy.

Addressing a press conference, Sharif said that baseless reports are being circulated in the media regarding Quaid-e-Azam solar power plant. He said that the solar park begins producing electricity when the sun rises and continues to do so until the sun sets. He said that no province except Punjab has ever added a single watt of electricity in the national grid in the last two and half years. Sit-ins had slowed down the progress of the project significantly, said the CM.

The Punjab CM said that up to Rs 2 billion of the Pakistani masses had been saved by constructing the solar project. He said that National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is a federal institution and had imposed tariff of 16.3% which had been reduced to 14.3%.
