Kashgar’s new city to serve as major hub for developing connectivity with Pakistan

Kashgar, close to Khunjrab Pass in Northern region will work as major hub to develop connectivity with Pakistan up to Gwadar under China-Pakistan economic corridor (CPEC).

A new city is being developed at Kasghar to implement the CPEC’s project on fast-track basis. A media group including journalists from Pakistan visited the under-construction city to witness the connectivity plan that will also provide logistic support to Pakistan for establishment of basic infrastructure and industrial zones.

The construction work will be completed by end of this year. The new city consists of some major industrial units for manufacturing heavy and light equipments that needed for development of road and rail links between Kashgir and Gwadar.

All possible efforts are being to complete the highway’s construction work between Kashgar and Pakistan’s border within next few months, said a senior official of the City Kong Mengchao while briefing the newsmen on the city’s development plan and its significance in special reference to CPEC.

China’s Central administration and the Kashgar’s city government have motivated their businessmen to set up here their industries. The response, he added to this effect is highly positive. Heavy investment is being made for this purpose.

The new industrial park, named as Shenzhen city will be fully devoted for implementing CPEC. It construction costs 31 billion Yuan.

According to the Information Department of  Xinjiang, the industrial park in the new city will service as a model for development of similar parks in Pakistan.  CPEC aims to create a 3,000-km economic corridor, a planned network of roads, railways and energy infrastructure, between the ports of Gwadar in Pakistan and Kashgar in Xinjiang, so as to help lift Pakistan out of its economic slumber and boost growth for Chinese economy.

The CPEC benefits not only regions in Pakistan but also Kashgar in China, where companies from as far as coastal areas have settled down. Kasghar is being developed as an entry point to reach Gwadar and the country’s rest of the regions, the official added.
