The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has prohibited the Lahore district government from making fresh recruitments.
The ECP said the district government of Lahore cannot fill vacant positions following the announcement of schedule for local government elections in Punjab. It said the new appointments before the polls could influence the scheduled elections.
The ECP has also taken notice of funds issued to the elected representatives by the Punjab and Sindh provinces in the wake of the Commission’s restriction imposed on such disbursements prior to elections.
The ECP has, in this regard, issued notices to Federal Secretary Planning, Additional Chief Secretary Development Sindh and Chairman PND Punjab.
