Pakistani delegation led by DG Rangers (Punjab) Maj-Gen Umar Farooq Burki began talks with officials of the Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) here in New Delhi on Thursday.

The talks, which are held alternatively in India and Pakistan, will continue over a span of four days at the Border Security Force (BSF) headquarters in New Delhi where border-guarding forces from both countries will discuss professional matters related to border management.

The 16-member Pakistani delegation comprises of members from Pakistan Rangers Punjab and Sindh, Ministry of Interior, Survey of Pakistan and Anti Narcotics Force,

Recent unprovoked firing by BSF, the tense situation at Working Boundary and other key matters are also expected to come under discussion between the two sides in what the Rangers described as routine bi-annual talks with the BSF.

“In order to avoid losses to innocent civilian lives and properties, the delegation will discuss issues pertaining to unprovoked ceasefire violations, smuggling and safe/early return of inadvertent border crossers”.
