Pakistan has decided to approach the International Court of Arbitration (ICA) due to non-cooperation from India in connection with Kishanganga Dam and Ratlay hydropower projects.
According to a private TV channel, Pakistani authorities’ meetings with Indian officials on Kishanganga Dam and Ratlay hydropower projects have not proved result-oriented and India kept on refusing to accept Pakistan’s right. Therefore, the Indus water commissioner has decided to suspend talks. In this respect, Pakistan will inform the Indian government through a letter in details at government level. A letter will be written to the World Bank to take the matter to the ICA.
Indus Water Commissioner Mirza Asif Beg while talking to media said that talks were underway with India on five different issues. However, conversation on Kishanganga dam and Ratlay hydropower project could not reach any conclusion. “Therefore, Pakistan has decided to move to neutral experts. All efforts were employed to sort out these issues at commission level but we could not succeed due to non-cooperation from India. A letter will soon be written to the World Bank in this connection,” he added.
