The president noted that the revival of the Silk Road through CPEC was an important development as it would reinforce the historic and traditional cultural links between the two countries. President emphasized that people to people contacts and strengthening of cultural ties were extremely important for both countries and their people.

The president recalled his recent visit to China to attend the parade in Beijing marking the 70th anniversary of the victory in World War-II and said that a contingent of Pakistan Armed Forces also participated in the military parade as a gesture of solidarity, support and friendship.

The president praised the initiative taken by Pakistan China Institute with its Chinese partners, particularly Prof. Li Xiguang and Chairman Lin, to build a cultural corridor as well as an information corridor to support and supplement the CPEC. “These would increase contacts and relations between the two countries and the people of China and Pakistan,” the president said.

The president also noted with appreciation that a unique and first-of-its-kind cultural exhibition on the theme “Salam-Confucius” was being organized at Pak-China Friendship Centre which aimed to promote tenets and principles of great Chinese philosopher and at the same time highlight convergences in Confucian and Islamic/Pakistani values and traditions.

The president congratulated the organizers for arranging this exhibition and wished it success.
