Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) spent Monday pondering over the issue of its participation in Chief Justice of Pakistan(CJP) Jawad S Khawaja’s farewell ceremony today (Tuesday).
Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Saturday approved a condemnation motion and announced boycotting CJP’s farewell ceremony over “ill-treatment”. Subsequently, a PBC session was summoned to decide on the issue.
On the other hand, Rawalpindi Bar Association has decided to boycott from the ceremony whereas Islamabad Bar Association has also started considering the matter.
Jawad S Khawaja is going to retire on September 9 and Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali will take charge as the new chief justice.
