Injured terrorists used Ziauddin Hospital as shelter; Five terrorists apprehended during police operation: Karachi

During investigation of former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain’s case, it was revealed that the terrorists used Ziauddin Hospital in North Nazimabad area as a shelter.

According to a private TV channel, it was further revealed that the injured terrorists used to get free/discounted treatment in Dr Asim Hussain’s hospital.

The authorities are preparing a solid case regarding terrorism charges against the accused in the first phase. He will also be interrogated in connection with other cases including corruption.

Dr Asim Hussain, a close friend of PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Zardari and incumbent HEC Sindh chairman, was arrested on August 26 by Rangers for allegedly assisting terrorists and involvement in other corruption cases.

He has been placed under a 90-day preventive detention under Section 11-EEEE of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.

Meanwhile, at least five terrorists of banned outfit were apprehended during police operation in Karachi on Tuesday.

Home made bombs and other weapons were also confiscated from the possession of detained suspects. According to SP Liaquat, the suspects are involved in heinous crime and were planning a major attack in the city.

During ongoing target operation in metropolis, security personnel have reported that 550 alleged target killers, 343 extortionists and 913 terrorists have been arrested since the start of the operation. Two hundred and fifty nine law enforcement personnel also embraced martyrdom.
