The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday directed FIA to furnish a copy of the Supreme Court (SC)’s verdict in Hajj corruption scandal.
A single-member bench of IHC of Justice Noor ul Haq N Qureshi issued its orders during the course of hearing of the petition seeking cancellation of case against former chairman PEMRA Chaudhry Rashid Ahmad.
Waseem Sajjad advocate appeared on behalf of the petitioner while standing counsel Raja Khalid Mehmood represented the federation in the court on Tuesday.
Waseem Sajjad requested the court to issue orders for dismissing cases registered by FIA against the former PEMRA chairman.
He told the court that Chaudhry Rashid Ahmad had only passed the tender while AGPR had issued the cheque after taking necessary action.
The court enquired the standing counsel, who the FIA had obtained permission from for holding enquiry against an officer of grade-21,
Raja Khalid Mehmood responded that there was no need for obtaining permission to hold the enquiry as per the Supreme Court verdict in Hajj scandal case.
The court then asked the standing counsel to furnish a copy of the Hajj corruption case decision.
Hearing of the case was adjourned till September 10.
