The federal government has acquired the services of Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director Aysha Mumtaz who achieved fame for launching a mass scale crackdown against butchers, food outlets and hotels for selling unhygienic and substandard meat and food.

Sources said Aysha has been called in the federal capital by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and entrusted with the task to chalk out a comprehensive strategy for launching a grand crackdown against major hotels, restaurants, confectionaries and food outlets involved in selling substandard commodities to the customers.

A meeting has been summoned on Tuesday during which Aysha will brief the federal capital administration about the successes she obtained during recently conducting raids in Punjab, especially in Lahore and her future plan of repeating the similar exercise in the federal capital.

The sources further said that chief commissioner, deputy chief commissioner, inspector general, SSP and directors of the Food Department have been asked to attend the meeting during which a final strategy will be devised for launching the crackdown.

The interior minister confirmed to INP that a meeting is taking place on Tuesday to curb those who are playing with the health of the people.
