Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday chaired a meeting of Corps Commanders at the General Headquarters (GHQ) to review the internal and external security situation, including the ongoing and future operations against terrorism in the country.

A statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said an exhaustive review of professional matters was also carried out in the meeting.

Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Maj Gen Aamer Riaz took the conference into confidence over his recently-held talks on security matters with Afghan authorities in Kabul.

The meeting also reviewed the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary which has remained tense for the past two months due to ‘unprovoked firing’ by Indian forces.

Gen Raheel Sharif expressed satisfaction over the progress achieved in the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb operation in North Waziristan and said the operation would continue till the complete elimination of terrorism from the country.
