Pakistan Navy celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Defence Day of Pakistan with due solemnity and reverence.

The day was observed to commemorate the supreme sacrifices of our Armed Forces and national heroes who stood against Indian aggressor and thwarted designs of numerically superior enemy with an unprecedented display of unity and resolve and defeated a much bigger enemy during 1965 Indo-Pak War.

In his message on the occasion, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah paid homage and acknowledged the valour and supreme sacrifices of our Shuhada and Ghazis who wrote down the tale of tenacity and courage by choosing the ultimate glory during the 1965 War.

He said that we need to revive the spirit of the 1965 War as our beloved country faces a number of complex internal and external challenges. The Naval Chief asserted on the need to forge that same unbreakable bond of 65 War, and reaffirm the resolve to defend every inch of our motherland.

We must remain resolute to overcome the challenges that confront us together as a proud and valiant nation in line with the expectations of our founding leaders. The admiral reiterated that existence of a volatile neighbourhood near permanent presence of Extra Regional Force (ERF) in Arabian Sea and the colossal increase in adversary’s naval arsenal with hegemonic and domineering mindset are few significant factors warranting us not to lower our guard but instead shore up its effectiveness both at political and military levels.

“Today, officers, chief petty officers, sailors and civilians of all ranks and cadres of Pakistan Navy on their part renew their pledge to play their rightful role in ensuring that our beloved motherland is protected from all facets of threats with unflinching dedication, valour, perseverance and cause,” He added.

Flag hoisting ceremonies were held at all Pakistan Navy units and establishments.
