Nation needs valor and courage of 1965 to confront challenges: NA Acting Speaker

Acting Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi has said in his Defence day message that the commemoration of September 6 revives our spirits and strengthens our determination to defend the country against all kinds of threats and to always be prepared for any sacrifice for its integrity and honor.

The acting speaker said that the Defence of Pakistan Day reminds of the resolute courage of the people and the armed forces of Pakistan in thwarting the nefarious designs of the enemy which was much superior in size and equipment. The demonstration of unswerving spirit and unflinching resolve to defend the motherland was the hallmark of all battles on land, sea and air, he added.

Abbasi said that we should recall with pride and admiration the brave deeds of our Shaheeds and Ghazis who wrote an inspiring saga of courage and bravery in the skies of this region. We pay our special respect to those who are no longer with us to share their tales of glory.

The acting speaker said that Pakistan is facing gigantic and myriad challenges including terrorism and is passing through a critical period of history. He said that the armed forces of Pakistan had successfully launched Operation Zarb e Azb and were fighting against the menace of terrorism with bravery and valor. He said that with the proverbial resilience of our people, we are destined to overcome this challenge and will soon emerge as a stronger country.

Abbasi said that we must renew the pledge on this day to uphold the integrity, dignity, honour and sovereignty of the country at all costs. He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the strength and vision to fulfill obligations to the nation to the best of our abilities and in line with the expectations of the people of Pakistan.
