Farmers unhappy over increase in fertilizers’ prices

The farmers across the country especially in Punjab have expressed grave concerns over an increase of Rs 159 increase in prices of 50 kilogram bag of fertilizers.

The representatives of farmer’s associations said that increase in fertilizers prices will further add to the miseries of the poor cultivators who were already suffering due to high prices of seeds, agricultural sprays and fail to get the reasonable prices of their yields after hard work of several months.

“Though the government is making tall claims of facilitating the growers but the reality that it is adding to the hardships of the cultivators,” the leaders said.

The local fertilizer manufacturers excusing 63% increase in gas prices for the industries have announced an increase of Rs 159 on 50kg bag of fertilizers after which it price has reached Rs 1999.

On the other hand Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, during the ECC meeting, has approved the proposal of import of 50,000 metric tonnes of Urea fertilizers to fulfill the domestic needs.
