- Chief Justice Khawaja says class division and hatred has created gulf between people
- Pakistan Bar Council to boycott CJP’s farewell ceremony over ‘mistreatment’
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Jawwad S Khawaja on Saturday said that there is a need to achieve practical goals and make the institutions of the country functional.
He said that all the institutions are liable to observe the basic human rights and all basic rights must be available to every citizen.
Addressing a ceremony of the Supreme Court Bar Association, the CJP said that if a state is built without considering the social norms of a society then it fragments the society into many sects. He said that mutual unity is gradually dying down in the societies. He said that it is important for a state to succeed that every person is given platform for his complaints to be addressed.
The CJP said that the 2002 Police Order was never implemented in its true spirit. He said that class division and hatred have formed a gulf among the masses.
“We must create harmony among the people and the state so that the state can fulfill the basic objective for which it was created and the welfare of the people can be ensured,” said the CJP.
