The Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) has forwarded its recommendations to the government regarding the madrassas data form, and for the promotion of intersect and interfaith harmony.
In the recommendations forwarded to the committee for madrassas reforms on Thursday, the PUC said that the affairs of madrassas should be supervised by a single department instead of different departments.
The education ministry should oversee the madrassas affairs as these institutions deal with education, the PUC added.
The PUC also stressed the need for making arrangements for the extracurricular activities for students in the madrassas besides liaisoning with madrassas’ administrations at the union council level for their improvement.
The council also prepared a code of conduct for the promotion of harmony among different sects and religions and asked the government to give it a legal status.
The council further emphasised on promote a messaging of tolerance through the media and outlined amendments in the syllabus for the purpose.
Tahaffuz Madaris Deenia and Wafaq ul Masajid Pakistan expressed some concerns over the madrassas data form and demanded to make it simple.
They said that irrelevant and repeated questions should be removed from the form.
