The Government of Sindh, Finance Department, Karachi, with the approval of Sindh Chief Minister, has allowed reimbursement of all kinds of expenditure on account of Indoor Medical Treatment to the civil servants from BPS-1 to 22 (including pensioners) and public representatives.
Replacing previous packages of 2002 & 2008, this Notification issued on September 01, 2015, said that Government of Sindh has decided to impose a cap on medical reimbursement and none of the civil servant from BS-1 to 22 (including pensioners) & Public Representatives (PR) for treatment of himself/herself and entitled family members shall be allowed reimbursement of medical charges beyond the limit of Rs.700,000 for Indoor Medical Treatment in any financial year.
The notification further said that in supersession of this department’s policy circulars of 2010 & 2011 the facility for reimbursement of medical charges (which include consultation, investigation, diagnosis and medicines) for OPD is allowed to 21 chronic diseases which include Cerebro Vascular Accident, Epilepsy, chronic renal failure, nephrolithiasis, Hepatitis A, B, C, & E (ignoring D as it is not mentioned), cancers, diabetes, hypertension, Ischemic heart diseases, thalassemia, osteoarthritis, Pulmonary Tuberculosis, Hemophilia, polycystic ovarian diseases, COPD, Valvular heart diseases, Bronchial Asthma, Thyroid disorder, Osteoporosis, systemic lupus erythematosus and endometriosis.
The notification further mentions that reimbursement claims of over & above the limit shall be sent to Chief Secretary & Chief Minister for relaxation. The hospital room rents have also been revised as BS-01 to 15 have been allowed Rs. 3500 per day, BS-16 to 18 Rs.5500 and BS-19 to 22 including PR Rs.9000 per day.
The ICU and special care unit ceiling has also been fixed at Rs.14000 & Rs.10000 per day respectively. The hospital accommodation (room, ICU &SCU) will be allowed for nine days each time for all above four categories.
The medical superintendents/civil surgeons while countersigning bills and issuing non-availability certificates shall endorse that private hospital concerned is registered and no retrospective arrears shall be allowed.
