Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members of the Punjab Assembly on Friday staged a walkout in protest against rejection of privilege motion submitted against distribution of development grants by the Punjab government ahead of the local government elections.
Talking to media outside the Punjab Assembly, Opposition Leader Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed said the PML-N government will not be allowed to ‘steal’ the local government elections.
He said that privilege motion was submitted in the Punjab Assembly because issuance of funds ahead of the LB polls is “discrimination, pre-poll rigging and a nefarious act to buy the elections.”
It is pertinent to mention here that the Punjab Finance Department on Thursday issued more than seven billion rupees development grants to the provincial government members.
The opposition parties termed issuance of the development grants as ‘pre-poll rigging’ and submitted a privilege motion in the Assembly Secretariat.
