The Lahore High Court Thursday disposed of a petition filed by stage actor Iftikhar Ahmad Thakur seeking a ban on screening of Indian films in Pakistan.
The court disposing of the petition observed that the petitioner should avail appropriate remedy first and approach the concerned ministry against exhibition of Indian films.
The petitioner-actor through his petition submitted that on August 28 that India committed violation of a cease fire that left eight Pakistanis killed.
He stated that it was quite sad that on the one hand the nation was receiving dead bodies and on the other hand the Pakistani authorities were allowing the promotion of Indian culture and movies.
He said that the exhibition/promotion of Indian films in Pakistan was in conflict with Article 2, 28, 31 and 37 of the Constitution.
He requested the court to put a complete ban on the exhibition of the Indian movies in Pakistan.
