In order to ensure free, fair and transparent local bodies elections 2015, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued directives for which all executive authorities in the federation and the provinces shall neither announce any development project nor use state resources in local government elections calculated to influence the election in favour of a particular candidate while any person in government service, if misuses his official position in any manner in order to influence results of the elections, shall be held liable to be proceeded against Section 68 of Sindh Local Government Act, 2013.
The ECP also directed that no transfers/postings of civil servants shall be made after the issuance of election schedule of the local government elections without prior approval of the commission till the publication of election results and any holder of the public office, who is found to have violated any provision of election laws or the instructions issued by the Election Commission, shall be proceeded against as mentioned in the law.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has further informed that the offices of the election commission as well as the offices of the district returning officers and returning officers shall remain open at all public holidays during the schedule period while all electoral activities mentioned in the election schedule shall be undertaken during the office hours of 08:00 am to 04:00 pm and it will also be followed on public holidays fixed for any electoral activities of the schedule.
