PML demands LB polls be held on same day

Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former prime minister Shujat Hussain presided over party’s organising meeting on Wednesday.

National Assembly Member (MNA) Tariq Bashir Cheema, Zaheeruddin Khan, Basharat Raja, Maqsood Leghari, Nauman Langrial, Abid Ashraf, Dr Arif, Major (r) Tahir Sadiq, Riaz Asghar, Shafay Hussain, Sajid Ahmad, Shahid Manzoor Gill, Dr Azeemuddin Zahid, Mian Munir, Khurrum Munawar and large number of party leaders attended the meeting.

Talking to journalists, PML senior central leader Parvez Elahi said that local bodies election in the Punjab should be held on one day.

He said that nobody trusts sitting Election Commission and all parties have made a unanimous demand for the four members of provincial election commission to resign should resign.

“No transparent elections can be held while they are in office,” he added.

Elahi said that party’s reorganisation has been started and in this connection, first Kisan Convention will be held on September 16 in Gujranwala and second convention will be held in Kasur.

In connection with reorganisation, conventions will be held in all provinces under chairmanship of Shujat Hussain and Mushahid Hussain.

He further said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has destroyed local bodies in 8 years as well as the entire system.

He said that PML will fully and actively participate in the local bodies elections and district presidents will issue tickets to the candidates.

Elahi said that only solution of electricity and water crisis is construction of Kalabagh dam, adding that development of farmers is also linked with this dam.
