Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Thursday directed to speed up the development work on 3600 MW LNG power plants so that benefit could be given both to industrial and domestic sectors. He also approved the establishment of second LNG terminal and directed to complete it by the end of 2016.
The prime minister issued these directions while chairing a meeting to review the progress on installation of LNG power plants in the country. Secretary Water and Power Younas Dhaga briefed the prime minister about the current status of the development of LNG power plants with combined capacity of 3600 MW. Nawaz Sharif said that funds for South-North pipeline for LNG transmission had been approved and therefore the work on the project should start without any delay. Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbassi and senior officials attended the meeting.
