The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday rejected a petition seeking a ban on the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
When IHC judge Athar Minullah took up the petition for hearing on Wednesday, Barrister Masood Shah appeared on behalf of the petitioner Mazhar Iqbal and contended that MQM was running its affairs through foreign funding and the party was working against the security of the country. He said that the court should order the government to file a reference against the MQM in the Supreme Court within 15 days for its anti-state activities and stance.
The judge ordered the petitioner to approach the government first on the issue before moving up to the court.
