Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan met Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retired) Sardar Raza Khan, demanding deployment of army in the upcoming by-polls on Wednesday.
PTI leaders Jehangir Khan Tarin and Asad Umar accompanied Khan at the meeting.
Talking to media after the meeting, he said that he was assured by the CEC that shortcomings committed in the last general election would not be repeated in the future.
He also said that he was pleased to learn that the chief election commissioner has initiated action over the shortcomings of the electoral body in the light of Judicial Commission’s report.
He announced that his party would hold a protest against the Election Commission on September 4, reiterating his demand that all the four members of the ECP must resign as they had lost moral ground after judicial commission’s report.
Imran Khan said he also requested the chief election commissioner to let the judges of Election Tribunals work as long as they were hearing pending cases, and stop the misuse of development fund.
According to reports, the CEC asked PTI chairman Imran Khan to review his decision of holding protest against the Election Commission.
