Water filtration plant supplying unhygienic, contaminated water: CDA lab

Capital Development Authority (CDA)’s water testing laboratory has said that drinking water being supplied to the citizens of federal capital through Water Filtration Plants (WFPs) is unhygienic, contaminated and unfit for drinking.

The CDA water testing laboratory’s report has revealed that toxic water is being supplied from most of the water filtration plants in different sectors of Islamabad. These reports have been made on the basis of samples of water taken from various filtration plants in the federal capital.

Member Engineering Shahid Sohail has taken serious notice of this state of affairs and has directed DG Water Management to take stern action against the officials found responsible and ensure supply of clean drinking water.

The water filtration plants have become dysfunctional in sectors and areas including G-6 Bazaar, G-8/1, I-10/1, I-9 weekly bazaar and I-8/2.

Water being supplied from filtration plants at G-10/Markaz, Aapara Market, G-6/1-2,G-6/2, G-7/4, G-7/2 Sittara Market,  G-7/3-1 Masjid Noor Qadeemi, G-7/2 Ali Masjid, I-8/3, G-11/2, G-11/3, F-9 park, G-9/2, F-6/1, Ministers enclave, Parliament Lodges, Aiwan-e-Sadr Colony, Margalla town, G-8/2, Barri Imam Complex, I-10/2 Alkhidmat, I-10/2 Chambeli road, I-10 Markaz I-10/4 and F-10/1 Green belt has been found to be polluted and not fit for drinking.
