At least two persons were injured in a firing incident near Habib University on Monday evening.
The firing incident took place at Pehlwan Goth.
According to an eyewitness, three explosions were also heard near Habib University.
Meanwhile, heavy contingent of police and Rangers reached the scene and put a cordon around the university.
Three mortar shells were fired on the university from empty plots, DIG East Munir Sheikh said. Sheikh said that search operation was launched to apprehend suspects.
On the other hand, Sibtain Naqvi, PRO of Habib University, said that firing was heard near Rabia City.
He said that Habib University was not the target. “We don’t conduct evening classes. So naturally, there was no student in the university,” he said.
