Pakistan will be a major beneficiary of economic corridor project that will also bring the two countries more closer to each other in multiple fields.
This was stated by President of Xinjiang Academy of Social Sciences, in his key-note address at a media seminar, that was being attended by senior journalists from 13 South Asia, Central Asia and middle East countries. The seminar was formally inaugurated by Member Standing Committee, Communist Party of China Xinjiang region Li Xuejun. It was arranged by local information department of State Council.
Gao expressed his confidence that the Pakistan and Xinjiang will soon get connected through rail that will increase exchange of commodities, transportation and people-to-people contacts between the two countries. “We are also going to streamline custom-clearance system at the Pak-China border to increase commodities’ exchanges.”
Underlying the importance of President’s Xi’s concept -one belt one road, he said it was fate-changing project to improve the living-conditions of the people, and bring peace and prosperity in the entire region.
Gao also appreciated on-going cooperation among the regional countries for fighting out terrorist and extremism. Security situation is now getting better, which he hoped will pave the way for smooth implementation silk road and economic corridor projects.
He spoke in detail on fast development of China’s Western region and said reflected the policy of the Chinese leadership to ensure equal development in all parts of the country. Xinjiang’s foreign trade has reached to 27 billion dollars and Xinjiang’s GDP fetched an annual increase of 11.1 percent from 2010-2014. The per capita GDP of Xinjiang reached 40,648 Yuan in 2014 from 313 Yuang in 1978.
Gao further said that the historical initiative of one belt and one road is of great significance and it was well by the world community. It could benefit the economic prosperity and regional cooperation among regional countries. Xinjiang, he added is an important gateway for China to advance its opening up westward.
He assured ´We will accelerate the construction of the China leg of the railway connecting China, Kkygyzstan and Uzbekistan, actively prepare for the construction of the China-Pakistan railway and energy pipelines and accelerate the construction of the second line from Aksu to Kashgar and the Railway from Ruoqiang to Hotan.”
China, he added “ will complete the policies concerning croos-border RMB settlements on top of the existing foundation to turn Uumqi into a center of RMB transactions and regional financial cooperation.
