Long queues of vehicles were seen on filling stations after suspension of oil to pumping stations of the strike of All Pakistan Oil Tankers Association against the government’s decision of imposing of Rs 30,000 sales tax per tanker.

Due to the strike, majority of filling stations were seen closed in the metropolis and a large number of people belonging to different walks of life suffered a lot. People were seen pushing their vehicles to their destinations due to emptied fuel tanks of their vehicles on different roads including MA Jinnah Road, Shahra-e-Faisal, University Road and Tariq Road.  Some people perceive it as handmade shortage of petrol as the government previous night had decreased the price of oil. Meanwhile, the CNG stations were seen very busy due to shortage of petrol in the city. People were waiting in long queues to get their turn. The public transport running on CNG increased their charges due to more demand and shortage of transport in the city. Later, All Pakistan Oil Tankers Association called off the strike and announced the supply of petrol after successful negotiations with government on Tuesday afternoon. However, smooth oil supply to the pumping stations could not be achieved till evening.
