Unidentified gunmen shot dead two policemen here on Sunday and fled the scene after committing the crime.
Police said that the incident took place at Swabi Road in Mardan where unknown miscreants sprayed bullets at two police constables killing them on the spot and escape the scene.
The deceased policemen identified as Waleed and Zubair was deployed in Garhi Kapura police station of Mardan. The bodies were shifted to hospital and later handed over to heirs after medico-legal formalities.
The police cordoned off the area after the firing incident and started operation for the attackers.
Meanwhile, the police after registering a case against the assailants have the started the investigation.
