Six dead, 31 injured in Punjab road accidents

At least six people including two children died and 11 others were injured in separate road mishaps on Saturday.

Police said that at motorway near Jalalpur Bhattian, an over speeding truck hit a Lahore-bound passenger van coming from Sargodha. Two passengers died on the spot while three others were injured. The bodies and injured were shifted to THQ Hospital, Pindi Bhattian for medico-legal formalities.

In yet another incident, a passenger coach rammed into a van at Jampur Road, killing two children Arshad and Naeem and one woman Najma Mai on the spot whereas eight others sustained severe wounds. The injured were shifted to the hospital for medical assistance.

The police have registered separate cases in both incidents and started investigation. The truck driver has managed to escape while bus driver responsible for second accident has been arrested by the police.

Separately, at least one person was killed while 20 others sustained severe injuries in a collision between speeding passenger bus and tractor on Saturday in Bahawalnagar.

As per details, the incident took place when a speeding bus rammed into a tractor at Arifwala Road, killing one person and injuring 20 others. The injured were taken to the hospital for medical assistance.

Moreover, police personnel have launched an investigation to nab the tractor’s driver.
