The All Pakistan Traders Association (APTA) on Saturday called for countrywide strike on September 2 over withholding tax (WHT).
APTA has called for strikes and protests on September 2 while on September 9 it called for shutter-down throughout the country. The traders will boycott dealings with banks from September 4 and onwards, it is learnt.
On the other hand, the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) has asked banks to provide them with two months worth of transactional records which include over 50,000 transactions. FBR will scrutinize the records of those who have not paid withholding tax.
FBR has instructed banks to provide the details of transactions till September 16.
